Story Hour

I have to start this blog post by telling you that Jack loves story hour. He talks about it everyday when we drive past the building. He'll talk about Ms. Donna and what we're going to sing or do, but once we get there he looks like this... Sometimes he sits like this b/c the song gets a little too loud. This particular day the song that got too loud was "The Wheels on the Bus"!!But, today Ms. Donna asked Jack to hold the flag during the pledge. Please understand that Jack usually doesn't even stand when we say the pledge...refer to above pictures. He was all smiles while holding the flag and for the next little bit during our time. It was too cute!! All of my friends were snapping pictures as well b/c none of us could believe it!! He is too funny!!

Hushpuppy Dash 2009

Saturday morning the Fish Fry sponsered the first annual 5K Hushpuppy Dash. Several of us ran in it and it was lots of fun...a little warm, but fun!!David, Michelle, Melody, Corey, Christy, Copper, me and Fred
My running partner occasionally get the opportunity to run with one of our favorite dogs...Copper. When we run at Christy's house Copper will run with us. Since this race was in Paris I asked Christy if Copper could run with us and boy did he run! He's not used to running with so many people and he took off. I never caught up with Christy and Copper, but Christy won 2nd place in he age division! Christy said Copper was so tired after the race that she had to lift him into the truck...poor Copper!! Fred also won 2nd place in his age division. I got a nice t-shirt for participating!! Who says dreams can't become a reality?!?

After Fish Fry Party

After all the festivities on Friday Fred thought the boys would enjoy some ice cream--a.k.a.-Fred wanted some ice cream ;) I was on to him b/c earlier in the day when I had to excuse myself from the parade for a little pregnancy business at a local bathroom he asked me if a milk shake would help me feel better...HA!! Needless to say Fred had been wanting ice cream all day!! He quickly drove to Dairy Delight and picked some up for him and the boys. As evidenced in the pictures below the boys really enjoyed the treat. Clayton was just a little less messy than Jack!!

Fish Fry Fun

During the parade... Jack sat like this for the duration of the parade, even waving to everyone on the floats as if they were waving to him personally!! Too cute!!
Clayton rode the roller coaster last night, but he did not want to ride it tonight. His brother, however LOVED it!! I was a nervous wreck!

Carousel with Fred...

Good times!

Dinner with Peyton Manning

...Well us and about 600 other people, but who's counting?!? Last night Fred and I had a chance to go to Union's banquet in Jackson. Peyton Manning was the keynote speaker and then he did a question and answer session. It was lots of fun! Thanks to Aunt Janice for staying with the boys and to all my friends for their last minute wardrobe help!! Fred and I had a great night out!

Daily life with Jack

I made a cake for a meeting and Jack needed to be my helper! I'm not sure if it's the helping he enjoys or the cleaning of the utensils...whatever it is I'll take it!!

Clayton reading

For several weeks I (this is Jennifer, even though I am signed in as Fred) have had the priviledge of working with Clayton's kindergarten class. His teacher asked me if I could come twice a week and help with reading groups--are you kidding me?!??--I was so excited!! It has been such a joy working with all of them and getting to know Clayton's friends and his teacher. Clayton has really developed into a good little reader. We are so proud of him!! Just thought you all might want to see it as well.

On a side note...when I told Clayton I was going to video him and put it on our blog he responded by saying, "Good! Mawmaw will really like seeing this, since she's a teacher!" He has no idea what a long line of teachers are in his family!

And on another side note, if you listen carefully around page 2 or 3, you'll hear Jack giving Daddy a special message. Boys!

Kroger Deals

Kroger has some great deals this week!!
While I don't have my totals I have a brief run down for you:
*Pringles Stix -$2.99, but if you buy 3 you get $3 off instantly. I had two coupons for $1 off so I ended up paying $4 for 3 boxes! Not too bad for something that is usually $4 per box!
*Kroger butter is $1.50-no coupon-just a great deal
*Kroger cheese is $2.99 and then bogo free, so it is really $1.50 a bag. This also applies to the blocks of cheese.
*Philadelphia cream cheese is $1.
And then my favorite deal...
If you buy three boxes of participating products (GM cereals, Fiber One bars, Chex bars and others) you get two boxes of Betty Crocker fruit snacks free. I bought three boxes of cereal, all of which I had coupons. I got three boxes of cereal and two boxes of fruit snacks for around $5...not bad, not bad, considering all of this would have been around $14!!
How exciting!!

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday our boys apparently thought they would get to run to the empty tomb with Peter and John b/c they were both up before 6!! After putting Jack back to bed around 8:00 a.m. we determined that no one was going to steal the joy of this family on Easter!! We persevered and headed to church after our family participated in a Resurrection Easter egg hunt. What a great service we had celebrating our risen Lord!! Feelings overwhelm me as I recall the words to one of my favorite hymns: "Up from the grave he arose, with a mighty triumph o'er his foes! He arose the victor from the dark domain and he lives forever with his saints to reign! He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!!" He conquered and sacrificed it all so that everyone would have opportunity to truly live...in this life and for eternity!! Hallelujah, my Savior lives!!Our church egg hunt...can we call it a hunt? I think it is more of a free-for-all!! Jack held his bucket in his lap for the first 10 minutes of the trip. Fred asked me how long I was going to let him eat candy. I didn't even know he was eating it, but when I turned around he had candy wrappers all around him, a piece of candy in his mouth and a partially opened egg in his hand. I told him he could have no more candy to which he replied while looking at the egg in his hand, "this the last one?!?"
We headed to Jackson for some family time. Mimi and Tee had hidden 96 eggs...for two boys!! (We were livin' it up Kenworthy style!!)

What a fun day!!

Lazy Saturday

After a breakfast of french toast and scrambled eggs we broke into the "treats" that Mawmaw sent us! We worked with stamps, we blew bubbles and we played with sidewalk chalk. Then we came inside and dyed some Easter eggs. (I did not get pictures during this time as I was having to be VERY careful with the dye!) Even Fred got his artist groove on...
Well, then we were just silly!! Before we dyed the eggs I had the boys remove the shirts. When I picked up my camera Clayton was very concerned that he was "naked" and could not have his pictures taken. Once I convinced him that just his shirt being off was okay he began to act silly. Thus producing the following picture...

Of course if Clayton does it so does Jack...

Whew, what a morning!! Did I mention we finished ALL of this before 10:00 a.m.!?!

Easter Parties

Almost every Monday Jack and I attend story hour at Rhea with Mrs. Donna. Jack looks forward to it all week, frequently talking about it each time we pass the school. Once we get there though he gets really quiet and just looks at the other kiddos. It is really funny to see his reaction. He is a stinker!! We had an Eater party this week. He didn't want to hunt the eggs until Melody told him there was candy inside. He relucantly began to hunt once he learned this.

Mrs. Donna always has treats for us with a party. Jack really enjoys this part!
Clayton's class had their spring party several weeks ago, but I went to read to them before Good Friday. I couldn't just read. I took a bunny cake as well. They were all so excited!

Clayton's photography skills

Clayton has been grabbing my camera lately and snapping some pictures. It's always fun to see life through the eyes of a five year old. Look out Elizabeth!! It looks like you may have some family competition!! Enjoy...
