A trip to Memphis

On Valentine's Day we headed to Memphis. For a special treat we told Clayton we would pick up McDonald's for the road. Both of the boys were really excited, but Jack was just tuckered out. He fell asleep after eating about half of his cheeseburger. I thought this picture was too cute to resist! Hope you enjoy!

The Lord's Prayer

When I was in the fifth grade my dad took me to school. Fifth grade was one of the hardest school years for me. I didn't know anyone in my class and it was a new school. My dad and I started reading a Bible devotion together and quoting the Lord's prayer every morning in the car before school. I vividly remember talking with my dad about the meaning of some of those "big" words. He taught me what they meant by the things he said and the way he lived his life. Riding with my dad to school those years are some of my fondest memories from my childhood. I thought it would be a good idea for Clayton to learn it as well. He memorizes so quickly and easily. As he hides God's word in his heart I hope and pray that it will be a firm foundation for his life.

Free and almost free at Kroger

I got all of this at Kroger for less than $2!! Yes, you read correctly...$2!! I love Kroger! They are running another promotion where if you buy 10 participating items you get $3 off instantly. The pizza rolls and fruit snacks were a part of this promotion.

Pizza Rolls-4/$5-four coupons for $0.35 off and one coupon for $1 off. The $0.35 coupon is doubled and then each box is an additional $.30 off b/c of the promotion, making the pizza rolls $0.95 for five boxes of pizza rolls!!
Duncan Hines Cake Mix-Free with coupon from Kroger
Cottonelle-$0.99-coupon for $0.50 off, which is doubled making the toilet paper free!! The coupon was printed off at coupons.com
Fruit Snacks-$1.69 a box-I had two coupon for $0.50. They are doubled, plus $0.30 for each item b/c of the promotion. Two boxes of fruit snacks ended up being $0.78!

Super Bowl Party

We are headed to a Super Bowl party tonight after church. I told my friend I would bring dessert. This is what I came up with... It is made with cocoa krispies, white icing for the laces and tinted green coconut for the grass.

We're fans of the ref!!

My dad has been a basketball official for over 30 years. Any time he has a game close to us we go cheer him on! He had a game in Camden tonight so we got to see him. I think Fred, Clayton, Jack, my mom and I were quite possibly the only people in the referee's cheering section, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! I mentioned earlier that we are fans of the ref. Well, we are also fans of game food! You just can't beat nachos, pizza, hot dogs and Powerade!
Good Times!!

Tennessee Snow Day

Since our yard is relatively flat we loaded up the front wheel drive sleigh and headed to Melody's house. She has hills and hot chocolate!!The adults turn down the hill...
The kiddos turns down the hill, which was mostly mud by this point...Bennett did not quite make it down on his sled. I wish this picture had sound b/c he was crying and saying, "It's not funny, guys!" Sorry Bennett, but it was a little funny!! All the boys taking their turn together...We had a great day in the snow at Melody's house! Did I mention she had hot chocolate?!?!

Country Ham Dinner

Several weeks ago Fred saw a program on the Food Network about how to cook a country ham. He has been, for lack of a better word, obsessed with it since then. We decided to invite some country ham experts over for dinner to test out the ham with us. I made slaw, beans, blueberry salad and cornbread and Beth brought hashbrown casserole, rolls, coca cola cake and tea. What a feast! Fred's ham really was good! Thanks Alton Brown for the recipe and thanks to the Harrods for the ham!!
Jack liked the ham, but he REALLY liked Beth's coca cola cake...as you can see in the above picture!!
