My last race...

When I found out I was expecting I set it as my goal to run until I was 20 weeks. (Praise be to the Lord that I have been healthy enough to continue!!) Melody and Corey's church sponsored a 5K this weekend and while I'm only 18 weeks I thought this would be the perfect end to my running until the baby gets here. Boy, did we go out in style! Fred ended up winning the race and I finished! What a start to our Saturday! I kept hoping Chip would drive by so he could catch Fred once again in his sleeveless shirt, but to no avail!

Campout at Piney

Fred has been wanting to take the boys camping, but the weather has not cooperated or we have had plans for the weekend. Last night he decided it would be the perfect evening...boy was he ever correct!! They could not have asked for better camping! Due to a busy Saturday schedule I came on home around bed time to get some sleep. They all came in this morning so excited and grinning from ear to ear!

Clayton's Last Day of Kindergarten

We headed out early this morning and hit McDonald's for breakfast for a special treat. Clayton was so excited! Then we dropped him off at school for the last time as a kindergartner. No tears have been shed as of yet!

Award's Day at Rhea

Award's Day was this week at Clayton's school. His class stood in a straight line across the front of the gym. Each time his name was called for an award he stepped forward. I feel like I say this for every post about him, but he looked so big!! I can't believe the end of kindergarten is here! He received several awards, but the one I think he was most proud of was the award for not losing a smile all year!! We are so proud of him!

Just a cute little story from Clayton...He got in the car the other day and told me he had to walk the trees. Actually, he told me in one long sentence, without taking a breath--
Clayton-I had to walk the trees today. Well, my entire class did, but I didn't lose a smile. (On a side note...they are not allowed to "sit out" at Clayton's school. They have to be active the entire recess time...thus, walking the trees.)
Jennifer-What were you doing?
Clayton-We were all talking.
Jennifer-Did Ms. Linda ask you to stop?
Clayton-No, but she was looking at all of us like she wanted us to stop.
Jennifer-Well, why didn't you stop?
Clayton-(Complete with hand gestures) Well, sometimes I have a question and I just can't wait until playtime to ask it! You know I might forget my question!

I wish you all could have been here to see his facial expression and hand gestures. It was priceless!!

Also, on Mother's Day this is what he said to me, (with hand gestures) "Mom, I'm not sayin this for me, I'm just sayin this for you. Since it's Mother's Day and all I was just thinking...again, not for me, but for you...maybe you might like to go eat lunch at the Mexican restaurant. Not for me, for you!! I'm just saying, that's all!"
Clayton's favorite restaurant is the Mexican restaurant! Always the diplomat!!

Kindergarten Program

Tuesday night was Clayton's kindergarten program. I know, he's already to the end of kindergarten! How did we get here?!? I'm not sure!! Mimi, Tee, Mun, Janice, Mawmaw and Pawpaw headed to Paris for the program. Aunt Janice treated us all to dinner at Prater's Taters before the event...what a treat!! Mawmaw and Pawpaw drove all the way from Memphis and said it was well worth it! Clayton had a speaking part and he did great. Someday I'll get it loaded on the blog.
Here is Clayton with his French beret on and ready for the program...
They were singing, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing"...

The entire crew at KPAC after the big event...The Paris Shackelfords..

Modified Camp Out!!

Friday night we were supposed to have a camp out at church, but due to flash floods and severe thunderstorm warnings we decided an alternate plan should be made!! While we still ate hot dogs and s'mores and watched a movie at church we headed home for a little living room camp out! Can you tell the boys had fun?!

Jack the entertainer

Lately Jack has developed a funny habit...the more people laugh, the more he likes to entertain! It is really quite funny!! The other day he came in the living room with a lei on his neck. We all laughed so he started dancing. When he had exhausted all his "funniness" he moved on to something bigger and better as you will see below...
