Five on Friday

1.   Fred ran 15 miles Thursday morning.  He started around 4:30 a.m. so he would have time to get to the office.  He said it was "the best" run and he could have done more.  Now, I love a run like the next person, but 15 miles at 4:30 a.m....I have my doubts about me calling it "the best".
2. Tonight is homecoming at our high school.  We are having a tailgate party here at the house before the game.  I've put on a big pot of chili and hopefully everyone else will bring the rest!  It's gonna be a great night for foot ball!!  Go Patriots!
3.  Clayton (and Jack) have their first swim meet this weekend.  It is on Sunday in Memphis so Mawmaw and Pawpaw are taking them.  It should be a good time.  They have matching speedos (shorts) and swim caps.  Too cute.
4.  I asked Jack this morning if he wanted one or two muffins.  His reply...three.
5.  Andrew likes to climb on things.  His newest thing is to stand on top of this little ride on toy and balance.  Once he gets his balance he grins, looks at me and says, "Wook at me mama.  Wook at me."
One more for Andrew...
Thursday night the boys have football practice from 5 to 7.  Andrew and I generally stay home and have supper waiting on the table when they walk in the door.  Andrew kept looking out the door for them and saying, "The boys are late mama.  They late mama."  I guess he was excited about supper.

Five on Friday

1.  Last week Fred got to participate in a 60 mile bike ride.  He rode from Paris Landing State Park to Clarksville, TN.  That's a LONG way!
2.  My friend and I have had a consignment sale twice, once last spring and once last week.  Somehow I got behind on laundry.  I literally did 11 loads of laundry Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  When it came time to put them up I didn't just want to put them up.  I wanted to switch out their closets for the season.  I had a mess.  It took 5 days to get it all back to "normal"...whatever that is.  Ahhhhh, my mind is at peace knowing it is all organized.  I think I may just go look at their closets and smile.  Yes, I'm weird like that.
3.  As a challenge Clayton gets to pick his spelling list each week at school.  He has to know how to spell them, tell the definition and use it in a sentence. Here are just a few of the words he's picked:  aurora borealis, fiend, hieroglyphics, archeology, insignificant, and impulsive...to name a few.   For the record my list would have looked like this:  cat, bat, ball, at, and the.
4.  This week at the table I asked Fred to please get up and grab something.  (After all, I had already been up 15 times in the first 5 minutes of dinner!!)  Clayton jumped up quickly and said, "I'll do it!"  I looked at Fred and jokingly said, "Now, that's why we had kids!"  To which Jack responded, "I thought you were just bored.  Weren't you bored before you had us?!?"  Yes son, we were bored before you all came along...bored.
5.  It is very rare that we have donuts in this house, but Thursday morning I had a couple of packages of donuts.  I split them between the boys.  I only had 8 (little powdered) so I gave Clayton and Jack 3 and Andrew got 2 donuts and a pumpkin muffin.  I left Andrew at the table to eat.  When I came back Andrew and Jack had 3 donuts and Clayton had a half eaten pumpkin muffin and only 2 donuts.  Sneaky little fella!

Five on Friday

1.  Fred had 15 miles to run one day this week.  After completing 9 miles he remembered he had a meeting.  Thankfully (for Fred, not for the others in the meeting), Fred was right beside the location of his meeting.  He was able to stay and then he ran the remaining 6 miles.
2.  This groups of gals is getting together over Labor Day weekend.  I could not be more excited!!  My mom has slice and bake cookies with icing and popcorn cake awaiting our arrival!

3. Flag football practice has started for Upwards.  Clayton loves it!  Fred is his coach and says is pretty good at running and catching.  Maybe some day his younger brother will block for him while he gets down the field to carry the ball into the end zone?!?  (Jack is also playing and LOVES it!)
4.  Paris has a kids swim team called the Paris Piranhas.  We are letting Clayton participate, but we were unsure about Jack.  He had to be able to swim the length of the pool, which he did beautifully.  He will ride the bus to Clayton's school and practice every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
5.  Each day in the car on our way to get Clayton at school Jack and I review his sight words for school.  I noticed Andrew the other day picking up the cards and "reading" as well.  He got the first one right by reading the word "like".  I thought he was a genius, then I noticed every other card was "like" as well.  Oh well, he gets points for creativity!
